Overview
School 33 Art Center features three professional gallery spaces with exhibitions rotating every 4-8 weeks. On the first floor, Gallery 1 boasts a 1,240 sq ft exhibition space that showcases our annual Open Calls to Artists and Curators. The second floor Members’ Gallery is a 480 sq ft exhibition space dedicated to hosting 8-10 solo exhibitions per year for School 33 Artist Members from across the region. Additionally, our 165 sq ft Project Space is committed to providing opportunities for emerging artists to present intimate bodies of work or realize more experimental installations that they may not otherwise have the support in doing.Calls to Artists
Registration begins Wednesday August 11, 2010School 33 is now accepting submissions from artists for the 2010-11 exhibition season. The call for entry is open to artists working in any medium and is intended to present new work by emerging and established artists from the United States and abroad. The exhibition will be held in School 33’s main gallery (approx. 1240 sq ft) for an eight (8) week period.
Lowery Sims, Curator of the Museum of Art and Design, and Jayme McLellan, Director and Founder of Civilian Art Projects, will curate the exhibitions from the submitted applications. Each will select three to five artists for each exhibit based upon individual artistic merit. School 33 Art Center will produce all related public relations materials and feature the exhibition on our website. Additionally, School 33 will host an opening reception.
