06/12/2015 - 08/22/2015

School 33 Art Center presents “Waiting for Something to Happen” a solo exhibition by Dominique Zeltzman.  The installation is on display in the Project Space from Friday, June 12 through Saturday, August 22, 2015.  A free opening reception, which officially kicks off the 2015 Artscape Gallery Network, takes place Friday, June 19, 2015 from 6pm to 9pm.  Light refreshments will be served.  School 33 Art Center is a facility managed by the Baltimore Office of Promotion & The Arts and is located at 1427 Light Street.  Gallery hours are Wednesday through Saturday from 11am to 4pm. The Artscape Gallery Network connects 21 Baltimore galleries to a wider audience and highlights 2015 Janet & Walter Sondheim Artscape Prize applicants, along with artists working throughout the region.

In “Waiting for Something to Happen,” Dominique Zeltzman uses Baltimore City surveillance footage to create a video installation, sound score, and collection of miniature prints. The work contrasts the poor resolution, clarity, intimacy, suspense, and predictability of the images, while juxtaposing the drama of a potential crime with the monotony of the everyday.
School 33 Art Center is dedicated to providing opportunities for visual and performing artists through solo and group exhibitions, art classes, hands-on workshops, a Studio Artist Program and special events. A program of the Baltimore Office of Promotion & The Arts, School 33 Art Center is supported in part by the Maryland State Arts Council and through private contributions.  School 33 Art Center is the proud recipient of a grant from the Robert Rauschenberg Foundation, which supports fearless and innovative collaborations in the spirit of Robert Rauschenberg.
