“Viscerally Yours”

School 33 Art Center presents “Viscerally Yours,” a group exhibition encompassing the Main Gallery, Members Gallery, and Project Space from Friday, September 4 through Saturday, October 31, 2015. Curated by Kim Domanski, The exhibition features artists Kelley Bell, John Bohl, Erin Curtis, Gary Kachadourian, Fred Scharmen, and Paul Shortt. A free opening reception takes place Thursday, September 10, 2015 from 6pm to 9pm. Light refreshments will be served. School 33 Art Center is managed by the Baltimore Office of Promotion & The Arts and is located at 1427 Light Street.  Gallery hours are Wednesday through Saturday from 11am to 4pm.

“Viscerally Yours” features six artists whose works aim to provide a special experience for the viewer.  Varying in media, these are works that are best enjoyed in person, rewarding the viewer for their participation.

Among the works featured in this exhibition is Gary Kachadourian’s Forest, an eight foot square, “blown-up” drawing which exits the two dimensions of the paper, becoming a sculptural space into which viewers can enter and experience a peaceful respite. On a louder note, Paul Shortt’s Large Child: Role Play video series brings the viewer along for the artist’s humorous attempts at “construction.” Erin Curtis’ bright, richly layered cut canvas paintings sing from the gallery walls. “Viscerally Yours” also features works by artists Kelley Bell, John Bohl, and Fred Scharmen, who further gift the viewer with experiential opportunities.
